WELCOME TO MONTREAL!

Did you know that it has been exactly 20 years since TIAC held its conference in Montreal last? The year was 1999…

  • Nunavut became Canada’s newest territory.
  • Julie Payette, a Montrealer and the current Governor General of Canada, became the first Canadian to board the International Space Station.
  • Céline Dion (Near, far, wherever you are…), Alanis Morissette and Shania Twain all won Grammys.
  • Wayne Gretzky retired.

Here we are in 2019 and, while the world may be a very different place, the TIAC family is still going strong. We all look forward to connecting, or reconnecting, with you over the course of the Conference.

Now that we’ve looked back, let’s have a peek at what is to come.

Look up, look WAY up, north of 60 to the land of the midnight sun and home of the largest weathervane in the world, which also happens to be a decommissioned DC-3. This region features landscapes of mountains, river valleys, forests, beaches, and deserts just waiting to be explored. Check the experiences that you didn’t know you could have off of the bucket list you didn’t know you had.

Join TIAC from August 12 to 15, 2020 for it’s first venture to Whitehorse. Meet TIAC’s only northern member, Stan Fordyce. And try to resist drinking from the Yukon River —rumour has it if you do you’ll never leave!

Come from away and feel at home again b’y. Is you a Newfoundlander? Indeed we is, me ol’ cock! And long may yer big jib draw!

From the top of Signal Hill to the colourful homes on jellybean row, Newfoundland is waiting to welcome you. Mark your calendar for August 11 to 14, 2021!

2022 marks the 60th anniversary of TIAC’s Conference. Plans are already in the works to celebrate this milestone. Your Board looks forward to getting your feedback on the host city options as part of the discussions at the sectional meetings being held during this years Conference.

Where would you like to go?

We will be looking for volunteers to help with the planning so email us at info@tiac.ca if you are interested. ▪
