TIAC Conference 2019 – Vive Montreal !

Words and photos by / Jessica Kirby

The TIAC conference committee and board of directors brought nearly 200 delegates together for the 2019 annual conference in Quebec, and proved one important thing— Montreal is everything one hears and expects, and more. From warm, welcoming people and stunning historical architecture to cobblestone streets and wine to impress any connoisseur, the City of Saints was an unparalleled host.

The opening reception was a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues and friends and make new acquaintances. The Sheraton Montreal was the perfect home base for exploring everything the city has to offer from downtown and Old Montreal to the waterfront and nearby Mont Royale. Some delegates took in a tour by bus; others took to the street on foot to see the sights. Saturday’s off site dinner was an incredible taste-testing extravaganza at La Scena, and the final President’s Ball was a night to remember with decedent food and plenty of dancing.

The event’s technical program included the Insulation Inspection Program and several workshops from industry professionals on technology, transportation, insulation application, and how building will change in the future. The break-out sessions provided important opportunities for contractors, manufacturers, and distributors to discuss the state of the industry from their own perspectives and among their peers.

If you haven’t already, please reach out to the TIAC office with feedback on this event and any ideas or suggestions for future conferences. These events are a team effort and all ideas are welcome.

Big accolades to the TIAC board, conference committee, and especially Robin Baldwin, for a job well done, and thank you to all delegates who made the trip to Montreal. Be sure to mark your calendars for Whitehorse, Yukon in August 2020. ▪
