The TIAC Insulator (Heat and Frost) Foundational Skills Training Program is creating a direct pathway into one of Canada’s most in-demand skilled trades, while supporting energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and the clean economy transition. Designed to address a growing labour shortage across the mechanical insulation industry, the program combines hands-on training, online learning, workplace readiness, and employer connections to prepare participants for long-term careers.
Backed by a $1.5 million Alberta Industry Skills Grant, the initiative focuses on accessible, industry-aligned training for newcomers, Indigenous peoples, young workers, and individuals seeking rewarding careers without requiring a traditional post-secondary pathway.
Participants gain foundational trade skills, practical experience, and exposure to apprenticeship pathways that can lead to stable employment opportunities across commercial, industrial, institutional, and energy sectors throughout Canada.
